Many questions arise, including who is going to pay for the care they need?

Many questions arise, including who is going to pay for the care they need?

Last week, we had a great discussion on how to deal with situations where a patient is seen as too risky to send home, yet also not quite in need of hospital services right now… or at least not the kind that a payor will pay for.

We found some nice areas of agreement by our panel, and will continue to discuss these topics:

  • “Custodial care” definitions
  • Designating patients as such (aka “Friends”)
  • Capturing Non-billable OBS services
  • The role of Risk – predicted vs. possible

To discuss this, we invited some other frequent speakers on our show, including Dr. Steve Meyerson and Dr. Larry Field. Others may join in, if they can get to the show, so… you never know.

Again, we did have a lively discussion…
