Surfers can choose to ride the wave or not. Providers have no such choice.

Usually, there is much to dig into, when CMS posts their new IPPS Final Rule, every year. This year… well, let’s just say that while there’s still 597 pages in the Federal Register version PDF, there’s not that much changing… at least not compared to years past, certainly not compared to everything that’s been going on this past year.

Nevertheless, there is still a good bit to discuss, although there are no big changes to the 2 Midnight Rule, which is the really hot topic. For this week, we asked Dr. Ronald Hirsch of Accretive Health to come back and tell us what he’s noticed, plus we’ve asked Dr. Deepak Pahuja of Aerolib to tell us what he’s been seeing, while working as a hospitalist, consultant, and Physician Advisor. Finally, we’ll have our Audit expert, Bill Malm of Craneware on hand as well.

Here’s what covered on the show:

  • Any Impact on the 2 Midnight Rule?
  • Readmissions Reduction Program update
  • Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction Program update
  • Hospital Value-based Purchasing Program update
  • The CMS Calculator for Market Basket
  • DSH Program update

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a comprehensive review of the Final Rule – we leave that to other folks, even some of our Faculty and Guest Speakers.
