FRIDAY September 11, 2015:
“Challenges and Changes in CDI“
Does the Present Focus Need to Change?

Archaeologists recently discovered edited medical records among the Nag Hammadi Gnostic Texts, dating to the 2nd Century AD.
Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs have been around for years, now. After some research, however, I discovered that it has been around for much longer than many of you might think. (And I have the proof to show, on this week’s show!)
Anyway, there is a change in the air, and both our guest speakers this week have been pushing that change, as much as possible. The idea is to get CDI specialists to not fall into the prevalent trap of focusing too much on the reimbursement side – finding or supporting the highest paying DRG possible for a claim. While that is an important part of the whole process, it appears to have become, in many instances, the most important driver for the condition of the medical record. On this week’s show, then, we will go over how they think this can change and why it needs to change.
Our Guest Speakers this week are, Brian Murphy and Glenn Krauss. Glenn has been on our show before, but we welcome Brian for the first time!
On this week’s show, we will be discussing:
- Determining a Better Focus
- The Changing CDI Job Description
- The Growth of Outpatient CDI
- The Potential Effects of ICD-10
- Will these EHR systems help or replace us?
So listen in, share your own insights and bring your questions for us!
